The stunning building with - amongst other authentic elements - a glass roof that offers a spectacular view of the ever-changing and typically Dutch skies that have inspired so many painters and photographers over the centuries, was designed by architects Fred Bos and Paulus Kloet and awarded in 1991 with the Berlage Architecture Award. It has a typical industrial appearance, which shows the coherence between construction and decoration, as well as a perfect balance between efficiency and beauty.
