LOCATION

Island Gallery is located at Gedempte Gracht 9, in the centre of ‘art city par excellence’ The Hague. The Netherlands has been known for years as a country of art, both visual and performing. With its number of beautiful museums and artistic sights, every art lover also knows that The Hague is the city where this can be found the most.

The characteristic building of our gallery is situated right behind the famous and beloved De Bijenkorf and on the edge of China Town, which known for its bustling restaurants; from Chinese, Japanese and Indian restaurants to striking cafes. And just a stone throw away, you can admire the Golden Age masterpieces in the world famous museum Het Mauritshuis. Next to The Mauritshuis, you can find Het Binnenhof; a building complex that has been the center of Dutch politics for centuries and possibly the oldest parliament complex in Europe that still serves as such.

Also, in Het Paleis, the former winter palace of Queen Mother Emma, the best-known works from the oeuvre of Escher can be seen.

And one must never leave The Hague without visiting Museum Panorama Mesdag, the oldest original panorama in the world!

Complete your visit with a walk through the Hofkwartier – a royal shopping area with international grandeur – and some ‘greenery relaxing’ in the Paleistuin.
