Island Gallery kicks off with unique presentation of Baroqco jewelry shown by topmodel Lotte Dirchs

Under the glass roof of the striking industrial and award-winning building in which Island Gallery is located, which offers a spectacular view of the ever-changing and typically Dutch skies that have inspired so many painters and photographers over the centuries, Peter Merceij’s long-cherished dream becomes a reality.
As if it were a tribute, Peter gives shape to the idea that he conceived thirty years ago together with his then employer and Iceland fanatic Olav Fekkes, but which until now has not been implemented.

Premium Dutch art & design

After Peter sells the Kamera Express company he founded in 2018, he is involved as an entrepreneur in various companies and startups. Peter: “I have been active in the photo industry for 44 years and met many photographers and artists. There is no better place than this, with a 350m2 surface, spread over no less than 3 floors in the center of The Hague, where I can now represent them and where we can propagate 'premium Dutch Art & Design' by means of careful curation and present it in a stylish way to an internationally acclaimed audience.”

From Jakarta to The Hague

During the private festive opening on Sunday November 27, 2022, Peter and Mascha launched a carefully curated collection of unique, very high-quality works of art and exclusive design pieces by Dutch artists and designers, including a number of luxury jewelry from Baroqco. In addition to a musical intermezzo by Eric Jacott, known from the R&B band Timeless, invitees enjoyed a very special presentation: top model Lotte Dirchs showed a piece of jewelry with a touch of Dutch heritage on behalf of the organization 12 Months of Beauty, which Baroqco has specially designed and made. All this, in collaboration with GFM Decorations, for the National Costume Competition of the 10th edition of Miss Grand International, which recently took place in Bali and Jakarta, Indonesia.

About topmodel Lotte Dirchs

On behalf of 12 Months of Beauty, Lotte was crowned Supermodel Netherlands 2020/21 in 2020. This year she represented the Netherlands at the Supermodel International competition in Thailand. Here Lotte achieved the title of Supermodel International 2022 - 2nd Runner Up. In addition to her work as a model, Lotte is completing her Master's degree in International Business Communication ánd active as an ambassador for people with a chronic illness. @lottedirchs
